I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, Radio Lab from NPR. With this show, I am often inspired by stories of people who are pushing the envelope and are doing things previously thought impossible.
This particular episode was about the Wright Brothers and their first airplane flight. Because of their work, we can now take vacations in far-away places. We can overnight packages to one another. We are no longer limited by distance.
Here’s the thing, their miraculous flight was not inevitable. It didn’t have to be that way. Yet, here were two brothers who dared to think differently. They dared to dream that not only can we fly, but we can also have flight control. This one simple notion that perhaps the clue to getting an airplane to fly is in our ability to control that flight thrust them into the forefront of aviation. And the rest is history.

Before the Wright Brothers, the popular thinking was: “If God had wanted us to fly, he would have given us wings.”
After them, people began to think: “If we can do that… If a human being can do that, what can’t we do?”
