Love this song when I need a lift!

Building a business can be a rocky road.

There always seem to be both the ups and the downs.

You ever have a moment where you could just use some inspiration, or something to pick you up and get you energized?

I definitely have those moments when I feel the need for cheering up and something to put a smile on my face.

Here’s a song (and performance) that lifts me up when I could use a boost.
It gets me out of my chair and up dancing!

Enjoy!
~ Bill

PS I’d love to hear from you – what songs, videos, writings, etc. lift you up during challenging times? Please share on my blog below, and let’s share our sources of inspiration with each other!

  2. This song kept me company many nights while delivering the San Jose Mercury News, with my Ford Pinto and working daytime as a Flight Instructor. I needed the money for my next pilot’s licenses. Once you know deep inside what your dream is, then, “Don’t Stop Believing”!. All the best to everyone for continuous growth. http://www.cascinarosso.com

  8. Hi Bill. As I am a dreamer, my go-to song is Dreams by Van Halen. The video also includes footage of the Blue Angels, and it blows my mind every time I watch it. The combination of the two is unreal, motivating and gets me back on the right path if I stray. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsXCs41DkWs

  15. My go to song/performance is “Bang Bang” from “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 11 specifically because I love love LOVE Valerie Rockey’s performance here. Well, I loved all of her performances. But this choreography really captured the feel and energy of this song.

Great choice Bill! Here Comes the Sun has always been my favorite Beatles song. My theme songs that have been jazzing me up lately are “This Girl is on Fire” by Alicia Keys and I’ve always jumped up and danced to “Walkin on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves.

  18. I just love “Here Comes the Sun.” It’s an instant mood lifter. Haven’t heard it in a while, and it reminds me of when I was 14 and my family stayed at a friend’s apartment in Rennes, France. They had a stereo and a few records, and Abbey Road was one of them. My sister and I played “Here Comes the Sun” over and over and over.!

  19. Everything Will Change by Gavin DeGraw was released as the official song of Team USA 2014 for the Sochi Winter Olympics. I listen to it while journaling in the morning or during my run.

  20. I agree, music absolutely can change your mood and lift your spirits. One of my new favorites is, Pharrells, “HAPPY. If you aren’t happy, that song will make you happy! (-:

Because I have lived through major difficulties, including a debilitating spinal injury at the age of 28, I have looked for ways to lift my spirits when I was depressed. Music is healing! I actually offer a place for those needing encouragement called “Comfort for the Soul” as a free resource so that others who are struggling have all kinds of music to inspire them & to lift their spirits!

I definitely added to my list of motivational songs thanks to all of you. Besides Happy by Pharrell, which was mentioned above, my go-to song which always makes me feel great no matter how bad I feel is “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPUmE-tne5U

  23. This one by Carole King get me going… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJn3QJYYBr0

  24. For some reason I can’t view the video? It says “private” – anyone else having that issue?

Anyway, really happy to share my favourite uplifter: LIFE IS AMAZING… listen to the lyrics too… “Let the clouds pass ’cause you are the sky that’s blue”

  25. This is one of my inspirations; “Shine your light” from Robbie Roberson.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=405rURIgvDw

  26. My fav is rated R.
But, I LOVE Eminem – his good stuff = ), when Dr.Dre is the producer.
Something about the beats (don’t know the music lingo for what it is), plus the complexity of the sampling that sparks me up.

  27. Two songs for me.

    Garth Brooks “The River” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wie219qytT0
Steve Winwood “Reach for the Light” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKBjoKZzhpc
John Denver “What One Man Can Do” http://www.youtube.com/embed/wie219qytT0

I know that’s three not two.

  28. I am always on the look-out or “hear-out” for Pressure-Free songs. As a professional violinist, I turn to many classical pieces, but for popular songs, I really listen to lyrics and messages. Here is my current favorite” “Happy” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6Sxv-sUYtM&feature=kp

  29. Thanks Bill for the reminder to lift MYSELF up when I get discouraged. My pick is from 1975 and I still LOVE to hear it jam!
So glad you asked us to SHARE!
    Angel Blessings!

  30. Bill, I have to say that this got me *moving*! (confession…dancing) Then listening to more Glee!

Music can have a huge effect on your mood as well as energy level, and I understand there’s even an app (Focus@will) that plays classical music to boost your productivity.

Here’s one I’ve always liked — “Break my Stride” by Matthew Wilder. Get ready for some retro goodness!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cy46iOwWQiE

    Thanks for sharing this, Bill!

    Janine Dalton

  31. I love this one… gets me rocking out and moving energy… then I can get back to clarity and focus. 🙂

  32. I love this post Bill! I’m a big fan of Pharrell’s Happy. You can check it out here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6Sxv-sUYtM

  33. I love listening to this song – This recording is by Liza Minnelli, but it was originally written for a musical to be sung by a senior citizen, which gives it an added punch. The vibration of ‘Yes’ is just so juicy – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el7pPVhrK6Y

  34. I think this is one to wake up and hit play on right away every morning! – Eric

  35. Bill, great video! Though I don’t watch much TV and have never seen Glee, that’s a great song and I can see how it can get you going. Pretty much anything by U2, for me, is a great motivator. Some runner-ups: Sara Bareilles – Brave, on Brave, Katy Perry – Roar; Wide Awake, on Firework; Say Hey (I Love You) – Michael Franti and Spearhead.

    • Love your choices!

  36. Hey Bill – great choice!

  37. As an entrepreneur, charting new territory in the realm of health, this song is one I go back to again and again (Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield).
