The most important business choice

procrastination
The most important time to do something is precisely when you don’t feel like doing it.
  • You know that going to the gym this morning is what you need, but you don’t feel like it.
  • You know that keeping your mouth shut right now because you’re mad will help the situation, but you just can’t help yourself.
  • You know that taking 15 minutes this moment to meditate is what will help you get centered, but you just can’t get yourself to sit down.
  • You know you need to do that thing you’ve putting off in your business, but somehow you continue putting it off for just one more day.

What we truly need is often the hardest thing to do.

Those who wind up doing it, succeed.

Those who don’t, fail.

The choice is yours.

What is that you know you must do right now, but you keep putting it off?

  1. Ironically, I read this immediately after finishing doing something I’ve been putting off doing for weeks. So I can’t really come up with anything else at the moment. But I’m sure I’ll think of something tomorrow morning. There’s always something.

  2. your advice is perfect when we are committed to a goal and the action we need to take supports that goal. the only exception I would make is that sometimes resistance to doing something is a message from deep inside that we are on the wrong path.that we are doing it because we think we should, not because it is what is in our best interest. I reserve the right to raise that question, answer it honestly, and then take action. Thanks for your wisdom!

  3. I’ve been applying just this! I don’t even let myself say…”I’ll wait, or just a little longer, or in a minute”…I just do it right NOW! Totally changes the energy of the moment!

  4. Totally! I just had this breakthrough yesterday. Energy was low, the sky was grey and I needed to get my “wow” statement written; which requires a bit of inspiration to do so. So I sat, and sat, and toodled with it over and over until the inner-sky’s parted and BHAM! It came through. Was a really good reminder that sometimes it takes that extra effort of just doing when I reeeeaaally don’t want to in order to succeed. Thanks for the notes here and sharing the ah-ha moments!!

  5. You’re so right. I’ve just started working on my Facebook page for my business. The voice in my head is telling me nothing else is making a difference, why do you think this will? I’m thumbing my nose at that voice and taking action. Thanks for the reminder!

  6. For me, the thing I usually don’t want to do is get up at my self-imposed 5:00 a.m. get up time. I can think of all the reasons why I don’t want to get up yet. People often ask “What’s the worst thing that would happen if . . . I didn’t get up at 5? . . . or I did force myself to get up at 5?” I have started asking myself a better question: “What’s the BEST thing that could happen if I make myself get up at 5:00 a.m. every morning?” Wow! Now, that’s a motivator!

  7. Thanks Bill! That’s EXACTLY what I needed today! You must be a mind reader!

  8. Right to the point Bill!
I was quite reluctant to leave the first comment, but that’s the whole point, do something when I don’t feel like doing it…
    Thanks
    Bill

  9. Hey Bill. Aww…you hit the nail right on the head here. It is the consistent people who “win” in the end–no matter what the endeavor in life! I also want to add that we should put the things we DON’T want to do at the very first ask of the day–b/c we usually have the most drive and most energy early. Do you agree?
