A favorite mindset technique for you

I love working with empowering mindsets that help people take big leaps in their business (and in their personal growth).

I want to share with you one of my favorite mindsets. (Or you can think of it as a mindset shift).

This is about how to make a commitment to something in your business.
Let’s say you want to launch a new program, or go out and get 5 new clients.

How do you do this?

You make a DECISION.

Wow. That word just oozes power.

I’ve read that the word “decide” comes from the Latin word decision, which means “to cut off”.

Truly making the commitment is basically deciding to cut off any other possibility. There is no back door.

Take a look at a place in your business where you’re struggling. Have you made a real decision to having it resolved? Are you really committed enough to do what it takes?

If you haven’t, you have basically made an unconscious decision to continue to struggle.

So if you’re struggling to take a big step forward in your business, it means you’re wavering or uncommitted about something important.

There may be an opportunity for you to make a decision to make a powerful commitment to something and to not look back. Or to decide to release a belief about yourself that is holding you back and that feels good to let go.

This feels edgy to me, but I’ve made a decision to speak my truth and to share it.

It happened! It really happened

What a couple of months it has been!

I have been quite the busy bee, so I have needed the last couple of weeks to recuperate and re-energize.  Mission Accomplished!

I wanted to give you a bit of a closer look on whats been happening behind the scenes.

My business partner Patrick and our amazing team have been played full out.  After all we had every intention of creating our biggest live event of the year – the Big Shift Experience.  We went to the edge of what was possible for us in putting together a truly magical event.  I spent many sleepless nights in excitement and anticipation of the big day.  Patrick battled stage fright.  I felt like we were racing against time with so much more to take care of than on any project we have previously done.

We were swinging for a home run.  Nothing else would do.  To tell you the truth that was a crazy amount of pressure I put on myself.  I had never held an event with over 150 amazing business owners registered.  I had never led a 3-day experience for some of the best people in my community.  I had never put anything together with so many people expecting me to be my best.  We also needed to make sure that people left the event with the blueprint of how to add at least 6-figures to their income AND experience their own internal big shifts, too.  Whew! that is a lot, isnt it?

After months of preparation – the big day is finally here. Now I am on stage with 150 people on their feet, clapping and cheering for me.  I take it all in.  I take what felt like the deepest and longest breath in my life.  And IT WAS ON!!!

I made a decision.

I knew that in order for me to facilitate amazing Big Shifts for all of our participants at the Big Shift Experience, I needed to go through my own Big Shifts, too! ON STAGE… being totally seen, vulnerable and exposing who I am in the deepest possible ways.

And what transpired during those 3 days in the Bay Area was beyond my own high expectations.  People laughed! men cried! and everyone left the experience knowing that was possible for them before paled in comparison to what is possible for them in their business NOW.

And I had my own big shifts, too. I stepped into a new level of leadership and authenticity.  I am no longer willing to tolerate being busy.  I left the event with a new intention.
I am going to serve more people and in a deeper and more effective way.  I am going to have a multiple million dollar business while working 4 days per week.

Yes, it is scary just writing that.

I have no idea how I am going to do that YET.

What I do know is that I am grateful every day for the opportunity I get to serve YOU.  And during this event I got to see first hand the fruits of my labor of love.  This is what happened for people in the room:

  • I can charge what I am worth and get it
  • I really can add six-figures to my income in the next year
  • I am a success.  I am enough.
  • I am connected to my mission and to my movement
  • I love who I am becoming on this journey towards prosperity
  • I can see how creating premium packages is my ticket to success

But the thing that made all the hard work worth it was seeing peoples hearts open WIDE and with that, witnessing everyones possibilities skyrocket.

What is possible for me today is so much greater than what was possible for me yesterday.

Seriously! Think about it.  If you expanded your possibilities just a little bit every day, what would happen?

  • What if you made this mantra your daily mission?
  • What if you increased your possibilities by 1% each day?  Where would you be a year from now?

I’d love to hear your thoughts about this here.

What I did last weekend…

I want to tell you a little story of what I did last weekend.

I was in Los Angeles at a spiritually-based personal growth workshop called Living from Truth. I guess you could call me a workshop junkie. I love the process of continuing to discover who I really am at a deeper level. I also find it really useful to get away from my regular routine to allow myself to truly see my habitual patterning and my thought process. And I definitely relish spending time with others who are seeking similar breakthroughs as I do.

I was there at the workshop with my sweetie, Gia (love doing this work together with her). On the last day of the workshop during one exercise, she told me that the thing she really loves about me is my confidence and fearlessness. She said that I do things I have never done before all the time without letting anything stop me.

That was incredible to hear and I still have such warm feelings over that.

But heres the reality: I am scared s**tless all the time.

I do things that will move my business forward. I move ahead on my path despite the fear. I am often afraid, resistant and really uncomfortable moving into that place of total unknown. But guess what: I do it anyway. I do not let fear stop me. I allow myself to be in that place of total discomfort.

Yes, I often don’t feel confident in my abilities (despite appearances!).
Yes, I want to abandon ship. Yes, I doubt myself along the way.
But no, I don’t quit despite it all. And I definitely do my best to not get in my own way.

So I ask you: What are you avoiding that if you did today would move your business forward or your life in the right direction?

Take a moment to really ask yourself this question. You know the answer. You know you do.

And now go do it. Do it despite the fear. Do it because you have doubts that you can.

Because when you think that you cant then you simply must.

I’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment below and let me know what you are avoiding and what you are going to do about it.

Remember, your business doesnt grow unless you grow (another little nudge – wink wink)

100% Satisfaction

Satisfaction
I got into the business of music because I loved music. I left the music industry because I could no longer feel my passion for music. Instead, what was once the love of my life became a reminder of the politics, the administrative clutter and what I didn’t like about the culture of my industry. I spent more time running my business then being in touch with music itself. It was a heartbreaking experience.

Things are much different for me now. I proudly call myself an entrepreneur coach, a creativity catalyst, a blogger and a human software engineer. I wear these badges proudly and enjoy the time I spend wearing each of these hats and I get to spend the majority of the day doing what I love.

With the passing of the mid-term election, I was reflecting on what has become of our political system and of everyone who is involved in this massive industry. Why do politicians get into what they do? Are they there to make a difference? Do they get involved because they believe in a cause and want to champion it? Do they simply want power?

The majority of members of our Congress devote the greater part of their time fundraising for their re-election. The job we, the people, hired them to do is a distant second. They took the job of Congressman, but are doing the job of Fundraiser. Moreover, the decisions they make on a daily basis have less to do with their mission of the job (to represent and serve the people of their district) but more with how much their re-election will gain or lose as a consequence of their decision.

We love our work when we have the freedom to do what we believe is right in any situation. We love our work when the culture of our company and of our industry is in line with our personal values. We love our work when we spend the majority of our time doing what we love. Can politicians say that? Can doctors? Can coaches? Can writers? Can painters?

Business Alignment Questionnaire

  • Do you have the personal freedom to do what you believe is right in your business?
  • Do you spend the majority of the time doing what you love?
  • What’s your personal mission behind your business?
  • Do you believe in the culture and integrity of your industry?

Satisfaction is doing what you love and loving what you are doing.

Creativity Blockers

I believe that we all have an innate ability to be creative in our own individual way. It is our ability to turn off our intellect and flow in our intuitive state that gets us in our creativity zone into our Zone of Genius.

Seth’s post has inspired to come with my own list of creativity blockers:

  • The fear of the unknown
  • Resisting Change
  • Fear of being rejected or even hated
  • Ignoring your intuition
  • Being judgmental of yourself and others
  • The need of approval from others
  • The habit of being attached to things as the way they are right now
  • The habit of creating doubt in your own mind

The absence of creativity blockers get you into this state:

  • I completely trust and act on my intuition
  • I enjoy the wonder of uncertainty
  • I am fully self-expressed even if my colleagues/employees/bosses/industry don’t like it
  • I get the sense of who I am from the essential nature of my being rather then from my actions, accomplishments or others
  • I am continuously open to new ways of seeing something, while retaining my unique way of seeing things
  • I sense the perfection in everything around me

What inspires you to be creative?

The Three-Year-Old CEO

3 Year Old

Lis Strauss reminds us of the importance of creativity and curiosity in our business. We can get closer to our essential zone of genius by being more like a three-year-old.

Three-Year-Olds:
** Test drive everything to get information.
** Ask “Why?” and don’t stop until the answer satisfies them.
** Know and use many more options than most adults do.
** They’ll try anything once, because they don’t know the rules.

Find your Zone of Genius by being a Three-Year-Old CEO:

  • Try everything – learn from experiencing it
  • Always ask yourself and your team “WHY?”
  • Know what you want and simply try all the options to see if you can get there
  • Forget the rules
