My guide to setting a powerful intention for 2019

Theme

I often pick my theme on New Year’s Eve, but this year, the theme emerged early. And I couldn’t be more excited.

2019 is the “Year of Living Kindly”

I want to share with you what lead me to this… I have been noticing how emotional I get when I watch a TV show where someone is being kind to someone. My favorite is “Call the Midwife.” I have always loved random acts of kindness, but this past year, I have noticed myself gravitating even more towards kindness. I feel amazing when I do something nice for someone, especially if it’s unexpected. It can be a kind word when someone is down. It can be getting someone a gift unexpectedly. It can be telling someone how amazing I think they are.

With all of the things that are off with our world, I think the world needs a little more kindness.

So, in 2019, I am going to spread random acts of kindness every single day for an entire year. I am going to be kind to my wife, to family, to friends, to my colleagues, and to strangers I come into contact with. And the toughest one of all – I am going to be kind to myself.

This theme and this daily practice are going to transform me in ways I can’t even possibly imagine.

I am simply giddy with excitement of doing this every day. I am going to do this when I feel like it. And I am going to do it when being kind is the last thing I want to do. I am all in!

So that’s my theme.

What’s yours?

  1. Thank you!!! This was great. My theme is the year of honesty. Of course to be honest with others, but mostly I’m referring to being honest with myself. To be truthful and not shy away from my gifts and play small anymore. I am going to be honest with my actions and if they are truly in my best interest, and I am going to be honest with my thoughts. Being honest with ourselves can be very difficult at times, this year I’m ready!

  2. For me, it is “turning the corner” and succedding. Thanks for the post!

  3. Great, Bill. That’s my theme the year round too,

  4. I own a charity called Bethany’s Charities and we help provide music instruments to the less fortunate. We also help give food to the hungry. 100% of donations go to the cause. I donate my admin work time and money too. I’ve always believed in the power of kindness, especially as rare leaders in a world of people who seem to be out for themselves. We are donating landscaping to the community as well as free music education to some people who qualify. 💜🎹🎹🌈😊

    • Wonderful charities, Bethany. All are loaded with kindness. I have been an advocate for kindness for the past few years as I have seen too much selfishness and greed during these last few years.

I am working on starting my own charity for seniors who ae in need of food and also if they need light repairs on their homes.

Be Doubly Blessed in 2019 & Beyond

  5. I love this. My word for 2019 is “Excel” and that means in all areas of my life. I will now add kindness as somewhere to excel. Thank you!!

  6. Excellent! 2019 is the year of authenticity for me.

  7. Thanks for sharing, Bill. That’s a great commitment to make!

2019 is the Year of Commitment. Commitment to myself, my writing, my clients, my fiance (we are getting hitched), my yoga/meditation practice, cultivating relationships with people of like-heart. I’ve felt ungrounded in the past 1 or 2 years, and i know the power of commitment to make things feel strong, successful and to see results. I see how commitment deepens relationships, meaning, life and abundance all around.

  8. Cathy Butler says

Hi I truly appreciate your challenge or awareness you are making this coming year and how you are encouraging others to be kind and thoughtful if I may add to others and even ourselves but it is a sad commentary that we have to be reminded to be kind and thoughtful it should be part of who we are and human beings after all it’s an characteristic that distinquish us from animals. Anyway I agree let make a a effort and truly be about kindness and thoughtfulness and see how it changes your life and others.
